Defamation proceedings against ‘Profit by Pakistan Today’ by iTecknologi

Honourable High Court passes orders in favour of iTecknologi as it restrains the publisher from publishing any libelous material against iTecknologi.

M/s iTecknologi (Pvt.) Ltd. filed a suit earlier today before the Hon’ble High Court of Sindh for defamation against Pakistan Today, its publisher, editor and Mr. Baber Khan Javed and Taimoor Hassan seeking, inter alia, damages in the tune of Rs. One Billion. The Company was represented by its legal counsel, Barrister Jahanzeb Awan, Advocate Supreme Court and Shahan Karimi Advocate High Courts (M/s. Haidermota & Co.).

The Hon’ble High Court was pleased to take cognizance of the matter and has restrained the Defendants from publishing any libelous material against M/s iTecknologi (Pvt.) Ltd. The said publication (Profit by Pakistan Today) had earlier carried an article which was replete with baseless allegations against the Company and its CEO and was premised purely on conjectures and surmises. It is pertinent to mention that the said article flouts all the applicable codes of conduct which provide that press should refrain from biased reporting or publication of unverified material and cast a duty on the publisher to uphold the highest professional and ethical standards and ensure that the content being provided by them is fair and accurate.
