iTecknologi Group of Companies has always been at the forefront of fostering and encouraging our culture, heritage, and literature within our organization and beyond. In continuation of this mission, we partnered with the Arts Council of Pakistan and Kopykats Productions for the play ‘Saadhay 14 August’ by Anwar Maqsood which was premiered at Karachi’s Arts Council on August 16, to mark Pakistan’s 75th anniversary.

The theatrical trilogy was initiated 10 years ago as ‘Pawnay 14 August’ then ‘Sawa 14 August’, and finally ended with ‘Saadhay 14 August’. The play focused on the great divide between Hindustan and Pakistan, bringing back the history of independence. The story revolved around two main characters Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and India’s founding father Mahatma Gandhi. The characters Jinnah and Gandhi traveled to Kashmir, Lahore, Delhi, and London. They sought opinions on whether splitting the subcontinent was a sensible idea. All of the major cities were depicted in the play, reflecting their cultures, festivities, traditions, and beauty.

The play was a visual pleasure since the scenes offered social commentary through satire and humor while also capturing past events and Pakistan’s current political difficulties. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance and was happy to have seen a play written by the great, Anwar Maqsood. The actors in the play were brilliant, and they were able to charm the audience with their performance.
